Empowering your child to take ownership of their learning as they face the most stressful times in their student life. The focus of preparing each learner for the PSLE examinations also comes to the forefront to ensure that they are well competent in all the four core papers: Grammar, Comprehension, Oral and Creative Writing. At the same time, teaching the learners how to preapre themselves emotionally against stress, worry, fear, and pressure that comes from the exams.

English and Literature are twinned in our Language Arts program because they are two sides of the same coin. The same skills needed to read and infer intent and messages between-the-lines in English Comprehension are developed further in the unseen and set text analysis in Literature. Knowing how most Lower Sec students struggle with the compulsory Literature subject also compelled us to develop our original Language Arts program to help them.

Building personal expository writing is also fundamental because it is complex yet long-term requirement for academic (GP at ‘A’ levels, thesis at university) and lifelong career. Expository writing synthesizes thinking and feeling and allows our students to develop the ability to think through and build clear arguments that put forth the strength of personal conviction through emotions and beliefs.

Building critical reading & thinking through current affairs and developing a personal voice in expositions through persuasive language are covered in our English enrichment course for Upper Secondary. The ability to comprehend expositions and then, to write them well, requires the student to have breadth of knowledge and vocabulary that is best built through regular, deep critical reading of current affairs. This can then be applied across all English components from Oral to Comprehension and Composition, and even to Visual Text and Situational Writing.

At BELOVED, our students learn to develop their own personal voice through the persuasive schematics of Ethos, Pathos and Logos (EPL), that will not only guide students in their reasoning and argumentations, but also the language to put forth their convictions and feelings. We believe that excellence in the English language comes when our students are personally fired up by their own convictions to current issues to think critically and express themselves clearly.

As students prepare for their landmark exams such as PSLE, it is absolutely necessary to build resilience and coping strategies to perform well. Through an essential structured schema-pattern strategy, students are trained to see maths as a meaningful subject.

When students begin to perceive topics such as word problems, fraction, ratio, percentages, geometry, algebra, and non-routine application questions as integrated and inter-related through organizing, their neural networks will be strengthened for higher-order thinking skills.  This will enable them to promote their self-confidence, beliefs, interests, perseverance, and independence in their learning to excel in their exams. We train the students to believe in themselves to see their thinking and memory living up to it.

Too often, students have a negative mental attitude towards exam preparation.  iLoveMaths takes steps to reverse that attitude into positive aptitude by developing personal connections to math so they can perform well in their exam.

Algebraic schematic thinking is one of many cognitive process skills which becomes pivotal in training lower secondary students’ mind to inter-relate the five pillars of mathematical topics such as arithmetic, geometry, algebra, trigonometry, and statistics. Having formed a structured schematic foundation, students are able to progress effortlessly to the upper secondary level with a more enriched state of mind to empower themselves to be successful in their GCE ‘O’ level maths exam.
